Porkapocalypse – The photos

It’s hard to believe that Saint Bacon’s Day was almost two weeks ago. Looking through these photos its pretty obvious just how much fun we had that day. A bunch of adults riding around town wearing matching Baconotarian t-shirts calling ourselves the Bacon Gang, laughing and being foolish…we had such a great time!

We did a traveling dinner party that started at our house and then moved on to Melissa and Adrian’s, and finished up at Shari and Jeff’s. I did my best to decorate for the occasion with whatever pig or bacon paraphernalia I had – I had more than I thought! After each appetizer we traveled to the next destination by bike, so hopefully we biked off some of those pork calories. :) Shari, our biking photographer, even got some photos in route!

Some of the food highlights (and don’t get me wrong, it was ALL good) included the pork belly roast Dan and I did, Melissa’s goat cheese, sundried tomato and pesto dip (no pork but we didn’t care because it was AMAZING) and Shari’s delicious pulled pork sandwiches and homemade coleslaw. We ate like kings and queens. What a way to celebrate turning 37. I think it goes without saying, but I’ll say it anyway! I have some awesome friends!

Happy Saint Bacon’s Day!

It’s finally here!!

A while back I declared the closest Saturday to my birthday, Saint Bacon’s Day. I have always loved bacon, but have over the last couple of years really embraced it. Thanks to our adventurous cooking and baking, our gang of pork lovers have had all sorts of things made with bacon…cupcakes, brownies, cookies…last year I even got homemade bacon jam and fudge for my birthday!

So to celebrate the inaugural Saint Bacon’s Day, my friends decided to have Porkapocalypse – a travelling dinner party! First we’ll start at our house and then bike to the other houses for appetizers, meals and dessert. The only catch is, everything has to have one key ingredient – PORK!

I was even inspired to do a linocut print for the occasion.

So, maybe you are celebrating some other thing this weekend, like say Queen Victoria’s birthday (if you happen to live in Canada)…but I urge you to consider celebrating Saint Bacon’s Day as well, because after all, who can argue the greatness of bacon?
